The second part of the series will map out the ways sexual alternatives enrich and complicate any consideration of gender and the arts. For example, what do a straight and a gay artist, both male, have in common? Can either produce a cross-over text, evoking the sensibilities of the otheror of a woman? What makes an occasion of giving voice to the Other (i.e. James Joyce writing as Molly Bloom in Ulysses) convincing to one person, artificial to another? When is a performance an homageand when does it become camp? Among others, we will evaluate excerpts of the movies Annie Hall, Sense and Sensibility, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, My Own Private Idaho, and The Hours. Panelists: Jeffrie Ahmad, Scott Covell, Mark Hoffer, Charles Hood, and Michael Traina
