Harry Schwartzbart, founding president of the San Fernando Valley chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, will discuss the “free exercise” clause of the First Amendment. He will explore the political and religious environment of the Colonial Period relating that to the framing of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. There will be a discussion of the judicial record on this issue and a brief review of the situation today, addressing the question, “Are we becoming a functioning theocracy?” Coordinator: Dr. Robert Harris
