HOME FIREARM SAFETY AND RESPONSIBILITY

A conservative estimate indicates 50% of the people working here at Antelope Valley College, as well as students and members of our community own firearms. Now with terrorist threats and the advent of homeland security, firearm sales are at an all time high. This indicates a larger number of people will legally come into contact with firearms; most for the first time in their lives. While the right of ownership of such firearms is guaranteed by the Second Amendment, there is little or no guarantee of responsible, safe movement, storage and use of such firearms. Come join us to learn your responsibility of safe firearm ownership. Find out the legal ramifications should your firearm be stolen, misused or not properly stored. This workshop will cover the legal and safe handling, transportation, care and storage of various firearms and ammunition in the home and vehicle. The focus is SAFETY. Invited speakers are from the local police department, National Rifle Association Certificated "Home Firearms' Safety and Responsibility" instructors and faculty from AVC Administration of Justice degree program.
