THE MANNS: NOVEL OF A CENTURY
Part 1

This is a six-hour TV German series on the Thomas Mann family (subtitled). The film program is a historical overview of the life and times of the Nobel prize winning author, Thomas Mann and his German family from the turn of the century to 1955. Dr. Tom Shey and Dr. Matthew Jaffe will show this three-part television docu-drama together with suitable commentary and follow-up discussion. All participants will see two hours of filmed drama per week followed by a joint presentation of life in Germany during this period and their subsequent refugee years in Southern California. Subsequent presentations will be held on October 18 and 25.
